EU to assess US Coronavirus ban on entry

The EU will assess the 30-day travel ban imposed by the U.S. on Europeans due to the coronavirus, which will enter into force on March 13, said the chairman of the European Council, Charles Michelle on Twitter.

“After the travel ban announced by (US President) Donald Trump, we will assess the situation today. Economic shocks should be avoided”, –  Michelle wrote.

He added that the EU was taking all necessary measures to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. would ban entry from Europe, except Britain, for 30 days starting March 13. According to him, the European Union did not react sufficiently to the spread of coronavirus, and therefore these measures were taken. The decision does not apply to persons with permanent legal residence status in the U.S., close relatives of U.S. citizens and some other persons.
