The American administration fulfilled the promise. In relation to the Kosovo separatists, sanctions harmful to a quasi-state were introduced.
As News Front reported, in the fall of 2018, Pristina introduced 100% duties on Serbian goods. This decision entailed the freezing of the dialogue with Belgrade on a Kosovo settlement. Recently, the United States has insisted on resuming negotiations. As a result, Washington has repeatedly pointed out that duties must be abolished, but the Kosovo elites ignored the demands of Western patrons.
Ultimately, the States put forward a stringent ultimatum to the Kosovo separatists, according to which the American armed forces will leave the territory of the self-proclaimed “republic” if they do not change their minds. On the eve of this already talked about even in the Senate.
Washington’s threats were not unfounded. Pristina was deprived of 200 million euros, which should have been received as part of the investment program “Millennium challenge corporation”. As part of the implementation of this program, in 2020 it was planned to invest in one of the weakest sectors of a quasi-state – the electric power industry. The United States intended to completely reorganize the Kosovo energy complex in accordance with European standards. Now this will not happen.
Moreover, this blow will not be the last if local elites do not reconsider their destructive policies. According to the Pristina publication Zira, Washington again threatened to withdraw the armed forces.
