Such actions by the North Korean side violate UN Security Council resolutions, Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said.
The Government of Japan protested to the DPRK about the long-range artillery exercise on March 9. This was announced by Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motoegi at a press conference in Tokyo on Tuesday.
According to him, “the protest was expressed through the Japanese embassy in Beijing”, as such actions of the North Korean side violate UN Security Council resolutions. Japanese Defense Minister Taro Kono, in turn, said that on Monday the DPRK could also test at least two short-range ballistic missiles.
The CTAK agency earlier informed that Chairman of the State Council of the DPRK Kim Jong-un led a long-range artillery exercise on March 9. According to the South Korean Committee of Chiefs of Staff, the DPRK launched three short range missiles from the Song Dok city area in Hamgyeong-Pukto Province. They flew 200km and reached a maximum height of 50km. This is the second such artillery exercise of the DPRK since early 2020. In December last year, Kim Jong-un said his country would soon demonstrate new strategic weapons.
