An unknown man opened fire on a mosque in northeast Paris on Sunday evening, one person was injured, according to BFMTV.
Police sources told the channel that at around 8 p.m. (10 p.m. Moscow time) an armed man entered the mosque’s courtyard in the 19th district of the capital and shot another man. After that, he left on a scooter, his whereabouts are unknown. According to reports, at the time of the shooting he was wearing a helmet.
The channel adds that the life of the injured is not in danger.
According to BFMTV sources, French law enforcement authorities consider the conflict on personal grounds to be the main version of shooting at a mosque.
“We are inclined to believe that it was a reduction of personal accounts with a specific person, the place does not matter”, – a source close to the investigation told the channel.
An attempted murder case has been opened, the judicial police are investigating.
