The presidential race in Poland was marked by a series of scandals that mercilessly destroy the ratings of the current head of state, Andrzej Duda. Known for his desire to please US policy is criticized. Meetings with voters end with curses on him.
It is noteworthy that another scandal by Duda provoked on his own, approving the allocation of about $ 512 million for state propaganda under pressure from the ruling elite from the Law and Justice party.
Thus, the president signed amendments to the law “On Broadcasting”, which regulated the financing of the state-owned television channel “TVP” and Polish Radio.
The decision entailed a storm of anger in Polish politics. The main opponent of Duda in the upcoming presidential election, Malgožata Kidava Blonskaya drew attention to the fact that this money could serve to strengthen the health system, which is in dire need of subsidies.
“I know one thing: the citizens of Poland will not forget that you put this signature. Two billion zlotys per lie TVP instead of fighting cancer is a shame, ” she said.
Another presidential candidate, Krzysztof Bosak, said that next week he would apply to the State Audit Office for the department to understand the situation. He emphasized that the state that spends such colossal amounts on broadcasting cannot be called serious.
The representative of the Polish Peasant Party, Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamysh, in turn, noted that Duda did not sign amendments to the law, but his own sentence in the elections.
“We will survive it. Yellow card – May 10, red – May 24. After that we say goodbye to Duda, ”he said, speaking about the date of the presidential election and a possible second round.
At the same time, the candidate from the Left Party, Robert Bedron, emphasized that Duda missed his last chance to make his own responsible decision, not imposed on him by the party elites. According to the candidate, this could be the president’s only independent decision, but he did not oppose the party “even before his defeat”.
