Erdogan agreed with Putin, trampling the very idea of NATO

Even the meaning of the continued existence of the North Atlantic Alliance has been called into question after the escalation of tension in Syrian Idlib.

Erdogan agreed with Putin, trampling the very idea of NATO

This was told by political analyst Sergei Mikheev, commenting on the situation around Syria.

As News Front previously reported, after a short and disastrous military adventure in the Idlib de-escalation zone, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan tempered his ambitions and agreed to resolve the situation during negotiations with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Mikheev, in turn, drew attention to what preceded such a forced step by the Turkish side. As you know, at the height of the confrontation, Erdogan tried to find support among NATO allies, but they preferred to distance themselves from what was happening, limiting themselves to political support, which did not even make any sense. As a result, Erdogan had to go to the world, but before that he questioned the very idea of a Western military bloc.

This approach has clearly demonstrated that the North Atlantic Alliance does not have a desire to enter into direct conflict with Russia, although it explains its existence precisely with the “containment of the Russian threat”.

“The West is afraid to get involved in a direct armed conflict with Russia, not only because of countries like Georgia or Ukraine, but even because of its NATO ally,” Mikheev said.
