UN Secretary General to come to Moscow for May 9th celebration

The UN Secretary General António Guterres expects to come to Moscow on May 9 to mark the 75th anniversary of the Victory in World War II.

“At the moment, all plans remain valid”, – he answered a TASS question about the possibility of canceling the visit due to the spread of the coronavirus.

Mr. Guterres also said pandemics can still be avoided if countries work together and in coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO). Previously, WHO raised the global risk assessment of a new type of virus to very high, but clarified that the epidemic has not yet reached pandemic levels.

This year, on the occasion of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in World War II, Russian President Vladimir Putin also invited the presidents of France, Ukraine, the United States, Serbia, the prime ministers of Japan and the UK, the leaders of the CSTO countries and permanent member countries UN Security Council to visit the May 9 parade. 20 foreign armies are invited to take part in the parade on Red Square.
