Poland will invite Russia to observe the Defender 2020 exercises

Russia will be invited to watch the exercises on the transfer of U.S. troops to Europe 2020, the Polish Ministry of Defense reports.

“OSCE countries, including Russia, will be invited to observe part of the exercise Defender-Europe 20, taking place in Poland”, –  the report says.

It is specified that Poland will send invitations until April 1. The exercise began last week: the first U.S. servicemen have already crossed the Polish border.

According to the Analytical Bulletin of the Government Center for Security of Poland, exercises Defender 2020 are conducted to practice the transfer of American troops to Europe. The exercise will be the third largest on the European continent since the Cold War. After unloading military equipment from ships, it will be further transported by land to operational areas through Germany and Poland to the Baltic States.

According to the bulletin, a total of 37,000 troops from the United States, as well as allied and partner countries will take part in maneuvers. The maneuvers will involve forces from, among others, the ground forces: a division command, three armored brigades, an artillery brigade, and support units for these forces. In addition, there will be U.S. Air Force and Marine Corps units involved.
