Ukrainian law enforcers have violated the ceasefire in Donbas 11 times in the past 24 hours, journalists were told on Thursday at the office of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic in the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination (JCCC).
On Wednesday, the Donetsk People’s Republic reported 17 truce violations by Ukrainian law enforcers during the day.
“Over the past 24 hours, the total number of violations by Ukrainian armed groups has amounted to 11 times”, – a representative of the DPR at the JCCC said.
According to him, Ukrainian law enforcers fired mortars, antitank missiles, grenade launchers and small arms at the DPR territory.
“The total number of ammunition used by Ukrainian armed groups is 52”, – the representative added.
In April 2014, the Ukrainian government launched a military operation against the self-declared LPR and DPR, which declared independence after the state revolution in Ukraine in February 2014. According to the latest UN data, about 13,000 people fell victim to the conflict. The issue of resolving the situation in Donbass is being discussed, including during meetings of the contact group in Minsk, which has already adopted three documents regulating steps to de-escalate the conflict since September 2014. However, even after the ceasefire agreements between the parties to the conflict, shootings continue.
