UNICEF looks forward to further cooperation with Russia

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) looks forward to further cooperation with Russia to help more children in countries such as Syria, Yemen and Libya, UNICEF Representative for the Middle East and North Africa Juliet Tuma told.

“We hope for… further cooperation with Russia so that we can reach even more children in need across the region, including in places like Syria, Yemen and Libya”, –  Tuma told Riyadh on the sidelines of the second International Humanitarian Forum.

Last September, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fora signed a memorandum of understanding between the Russian government and UNICEF.

UNICEF is the leading UN organization in the field of child protection and development. Its key areas of work include maternal and child health care, early childhood development, child nutrition, education, and meeting the needs of mothers and children in emergency situations resulting from natural disasters, armed conflicts and epidemics.
