Russia will help Iran to fight the coronavirus. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
“The Russian side expressed its condolences in connection with the victims of the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak in Iran and confirmed its readiness to provide assistance in countering its further spread”, – the Foreign Ministry said.
In late December 2019, Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization about an outbreak of unknown pneumonia in Wuhan city in the central part of the country (Hubei province). Specialists have managed to establish that a new coronavirus has become the cause of the disease. WHO recognized the outbreak as an emergency of international importance and gave the disease its official name, COVID-19.
