Turkey is losing its soldiers, but will not leave the Syrians alone.
This statement was made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking in the country’s parliament.
Talking about how the operation is going on in the Syrian province of Idlib, Erdogan suddenly stated that Ankara was not at all seeking war.
“The operations recently conducted by the Turkish Armed Forces have shown everyone the ability of the Turkish troops to effectively fight, but we do not seek war,” he said.
At the same time, Erdogan emphasized that Turkey does not intend to end the armed confrontation in Idlib, as it allegedly does not want to “leave the Syrians at the mercy of the bloody regime of Assad and his supporters.”
Speaking about the success of the invasion, the Turkish president said that in Idlib, 3.2 thousand fighters of the Syrian Arab army were neutralized, 3 planes and 8 helicopters were shot down, although in reality the Syrian aviation lost only 2 helicopters.
“Of course, Turkish troops also suffer losses, but we will not leave the Syrians,” Erdogan stated.
As News Front previously reported, tomorrow in Moscow negotiations will be held between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. According to the Kremlin, the parties will discuss a set of measures that could provide a solution to the conflict in Syrian Idlib.
At the same time, the expert community claims that the decision to go to Moscow is a sign of Erdogan’s despair. The Turkish military campaign in Syria “got stuck”, and all the allies turned their backs on Ankara.
