An employee of the Customs Department of Gurbulak District, Agri Province in eastern Turkey, was killed in a car bomb attack, said the country’s Commerce Minister Ruhsar Peksan.
“In the morning, one person was killed when a vehicle carrying Gurbulak District Customs officers was fired upon”, – Pecjan said on Twitter.
Earlier, Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu also posted on his Twitter message that at 8:50 a.m. (coinciding with Moscow time) an armored car belonging to the Customs Department of Gurbulak district of Agra province was hit by a missile.
The Kurdistan Workers Party (KWP), which is banned in Turkey, is operating in Agra province.
Since the resumption of armed conflict with PKK in Turkey in July 2015, more than 900 military and police personnel as well as about 500 civilians have been killed in attacks by Kurdish insurgents. According to the Ministry of Defence of Turkey, during this period, the security forces neutralized more than 10,000 PKK members. There are Kurdish detachment bases in northern Iraq, against which Turkish forces are conducting air and ground operations.
