The British government on Monday will publish its tasks for trade negotiations with the United States, expects that the deal will bring the British economy 3.4 billion pounds.
“British manufacturers of ceramics, automobiles, food and drinks, as well as those who provide professional services, including architects and lawyers, will be the ones who will benefit most from tariff-free access to the US market”, – the statement by the ministry of international trade said.
“A government analysis published today demonstrates that the British economy will receive an additional infusion of 3.4 billion pounds, and the trade agreement itself will increase the transatlantic trade turnover by 15.3 billion. The objectives of the negotiations indicate that any future agreement should protect our National Service health care and maintain high standards of food safety and animal welfare”, – the statement said.
Thus, the British government is responding to critics’ statements stating that if the US insurance companies gain unhindered access to the UK market, then the NHS – the British national treasure – will be “sold out”. The opposition also points out the inconsistency of some American food products, in particular chicken, British and European standards.
“The agreement will also include a part devoted to Internet commerce in order to maximize the opportunities for businesses to trade through the Internet across the Atlantic”, – the statement said.
Preliminarily, the government outlined five main tasks for negotiations: agreeing on an “ambitious and comprehensive agreement” on free trade, increasing British GDP by opening up opportunities for British business and investors, protecting Britain’s freedom to provide free services to the public (“NHS is not for sale”), maintaining high standards and protecting the interests of British consumers, the orientation of the agreement on the future development of technology.
