The creation of a missile defense system (ABM), designed to defend against Russia, is for the United States not technically feasible task, and would also pose a threat to the strategic stability of the United States. This statement was made on February 28 by the head of the Strategic Command (STRATCOM) of the US Armed Forces, Admiral Charles Richard.
In turn, as stated in an article by professor of materials science from Michigan Technological University (USA) Joshua Pearce, published by The Conversation, an unrequited launch of 100 American nuclear warheads across Russia would be devastating for the United States themselves. In this scenario, a huge amount of soot would be thrown into the upper layers of the earth’s atmosphere, which, provoking a global cooling, would destroy all agriculture. The unrequited launch of 1 thousand nuclear warheads from the United States, according to the scientist, will lead to the death of 140 thousand Americans, and the launch of 7 thousand warheads will create the preconditions for the famine of 5 million people.
It is worth recalling that Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with the American television channel NBС in March 2018 said: “The new weapons of Russia, presented on Thursday in the President’s message to the Federal Assembly, are so progressive that the money of the United States taxpayers spent on missile defense is thrown to the wind”.
“Each weapon system that I spoke about easily surpasses and avoids missile defense systems”, – the Russian leader noted.
In a message to the Federal Assembly on March 1, 2018, the Russian president said that our country has begun an active phase of testing a new missile system with a heavy Sarmat intercontinental missile, which is difficult to intercept with missile defense. During the president’s speech, footage of tests of a missile complex with a planning winged block, as well as the operation of a Russian missile with a nuclear power plant and the Sarmat complex were demonstrated.
