Russian leader Vladimir Putin said that Russia’s accumulated reserves are sufficient to maintain stability in the country even if the situation in the global economy worsens.
He said this during a meeting on the situation in global commodity markets amid the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection in the world.
“Our accumulated reserves, including the National Welfare Fund, are sufficient to ensure a stable situation, fulfillment of all budgetary and social obligations even with the possible deterioration of the situation in the global economy”, – the reporters quoted him as saying.
The President also noted that the negative consequences for the global economy “are already making themselves felt, affecting the entire system of world economic relations, almost all states”.
Putin added that it is necessary to directly study the economic impact of an outbreak of infection for a further response.
