More than 30 people died in riots in New Delhi

In the Indian capital, as a result of riots and clashes that began on February 24, 32 people were killed.

It is reported by NDTV.

It is specified that 200 people were also injured in several days of riots, and dozens of people were detained by police.

As indicated by the channel, the clash was the law on citizenship.

The TASS agency clarifies that this is a new revision of the Indian Citizenship Law that has entered into force, which provides for the simplified provision of citizenship to non-Muslims from a number of South Asian states if they are faced with harassment in their homeland. This change caused a negative reaction from Indian Muslims.

Similar riots for the same reason have occurred before. For example, in December 2019, more than 100 people were injured during the protests in New Delhi.
