DPR reported eight violations of the truce in Donbass in 24 hours

Ukrainian security forces broke the ceasefire in Donbas eight times in the past 24 hours, the Donetsk People’s Republic self-proclaimed representative office at the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination (JCCCC) told reporters on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the Donetsk People’s Republic reported nine truce violations by Ukrainian law enforcers during the day.

“Over the past 24 hours, the total number of violations on the part of Ukrainian armed formations was eight times”, –  a representative of the DPR at the JCCC said.

According to him, Ukrainian law enforcers fired mortars, grenade launchers and small arms at the republic’s territory.

“The total number of ammunition used by Ukrainian armed groups is 23”, –  the DPR representative added.

In April 2014, the Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against the self-declared LPR and DPR, which declared independence after the state revolution in Ukraine in February 2014. According to the latest UN data, about 13,000 people fell victim to the conflict.

The issue of resolving the situation in Donbass is being discussed, including during meetings of the contact group in Minsk, which has already adopted three documents regulating steps to de-escalate the conflict since September 2014. However, even after the ceasefire agreements between the parties to the conflict, shootings continue.
