US President Donald Trump said he was ready to become a mediator to resolve the contradictions between Pakistan and India on Kashmir issues.
“All that I can do as an intermediary, everything that I can do to help, I will do for Kashmir … Kashmir remains a problem for a long time, people suffer. Each of the parties has its own story, but they are working on a solution to the problem, ” Trump said during a speech to reporters.
In the summer of 2019, Trump also announced that he was ready to mediate in the Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan.
Then the official representative of the Indian Foreign Ministry Raveesh Kumar said that the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not ask the US President to act as mediator.
On February 26, 2019, Indian air forces attacked militant camps near the border separating India and Pakistan in disputed Kashmir. The next day, the Pakistani army shot down two Indian Air Force planes and arrested two Indian pilots.
