The Russian Embassy in the United States expressed disappointment that Washington, after Tbilisi, accused Moscow of involvement in cyber attacks against Georgian sites.
The diplomatic mission called these allegations unsubstantiated.
“It is regrettable that once American diplomats, famous for their high professionalism, are increasingly resorting to the methods of tabloid journalists in their work”, – the embassy said in a statement on Facebook.
In addition, diplomats expressed disappointment that in America, and in the West as a whole, speculations that receive good support are presented as the ultimate truth.
The embassy recalled that Russia is ready for dialogue on all pressing issues of the international agenda, including ensuring information security.
“Unfortunately, colleagues do not go to substantive discussions”, – they stated in the diplomatic mission.
The other day, Georgian Foreign Ministry spokesman Vladimir Konstantinidi accused Russia of allegedly conducting a “large-scale cyber attack” on October 28 on the websites of the presidential administration, the judiciary, various municipalities, state and commercial organizations, as well as the media. He did not give any evidence of the guilt of Moscow, however, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, as well as the Foreign Ministry of Great Britain and Poland, supported the accusations from Tbilisi.
In response, Moscow once again emphasized that they were not going to and are not going to interfere in any way with the internal affairs of Georgia.
Russia has repeatedly suggested that Western countries jointly counteract cybercrime. As the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov noted, strategically important areas of the Russian economy are constantly being attacked from abroad, and the relevant departments are fighting this. At the same time, he emphasized, Russia did not and will never have anything to do with crimes in the cyber sphere.
