Facebook did not find evidence that Moscow was allegedly trying to support Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders’s election campaign.
Earlier, the Washington Post, citing its own sources, reported that Russia was allegedly trying, at least through social networks, to help Sanders in the US presidential election in 2020.
Sanders himself, in response to publications, said that he did not need such assistance and urged the Russian Federation to “stay away” from the US election.
Later, Reuters reported that Facebook did not receive information that would indicate that attempts by an interference by a number of American media have taken place.
Earlier, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the news about Russian intervention in primaries in the US “paranoid”, noting that the Kremlin expects the growth of such “news” as the election approaches. Thus, he reacted to the publication of The New York Times, which, citing the US intelligence, said that Russia would try to help the US President Donald Trump be re-elected in the 2020 elections and, inter alia, would interfere in the primaries of the Democrats.
