Prime Minister of Belarus hopes for friendship with Moscow

Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Rumas expects that the republic’s cooperation with Russia will continue to develop in a spirit of friendship and mutual understanding, said the press service of the Belarusian government on Thursday.
According to her, Rumas sent a letter of gratitude to his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishstin, where he expressed the words of gratitude to Russia for the assistance in evacuation of ten Belarusian citizens, who decided to leave the Chinese province of Hubei in connection with the spread of a new type of coronavirus, on February 5.

“The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to his Russian colleague for accommodating the citizens of the Republic of Belarus in the treatment and rehabilitation center “Urban Planner”,  Tyumen Oblast, and creating favorable conditions for their stay. Sergei Rumas noted that fruitful interaction between our countries will continue to develop in the spirit of friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding”, –  the report says on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers of Belarus.

Rumas also wished Mishstin good health, kindness and prosperity.
Earlier, five citizens of the republic, who were evacuated from China to Kazakhstan, as well as 10 Belarusians, who were evacuated to Russia, returned to Belarus. All of them were under quarantine for two weeks, they had no coronavirus infection.

On 31 December 2019, Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization about an outbreak of unknown pneumonia in Wuhan city in the central part of the country (Hubei province). Specialists have identified the pathogen, a new coronavirus. WHO recognized the outbreak as an emergency of international importance and gave the disease its official name, COVID-19. The number of people infected in mainland China has already exceeded 74.5 thousand, 2 029 people have died and about 16.1 thousand have been cured. Outside China, over 900 cases have been detected in 25 countries.
