The Westminster Magistrate’s Court in London on Wednesday completed a technical hearing on the extradition of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange; substantive hearings will begin on Monday, February 24, as it was reported from the courtroom.
Assange attended the meeting on Wednesday via video link from Belmarsh British Prison, where he is being held. During the meeting, the defendant, who uttered his full name at the beginning of the hearing, carefully studied the case materials.
Judge Vanessa Baraitzer approved the schedule of the upcoming substantive meetings with the defense of Assange and the accusing party.
It is planned that the first part of the main hearing will begin on Monday at the Royal Woolwich Court. Meetings will be held every day throughout the next week. The second part of the main hearing will take place in May.
