Ukrainian law enforcers broke the ceasefire in Donbas 18 times last day, a representative of the self-declared Donetsk People’s Republic told journalists on Wednesday at the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination (JCCC).
On Tuesday, the Donetsk People’s Republic representative office at JCCC reported eight ceasefire violations in one day.
“Over the past day, the total number of violations on the part of the armed formations of Ukraine was 18 times”, – the representative of the department said.
The DPR representative office at the JCCC added that 27 mines with a calibre of 82 millimetres were fired on the territory of the republic and small arms and grenade launchers were also used.
In April 2014, the Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against the self-declared People’s Republic of China and the DPR, which declared independence after the state revolution in Ukraine in February 2014. According to the latest UN data, about 13,000 people fell victim to the conflict.
The issue of settling the situation in Donbass is discussed, in particular, during meetings of the contact group in Minsk, which has already adopted three documents regulating steps to de-escalate the conflict since September 2014. However, even after the ceasefire agreements between the parties to the conflict, shootings continue.
