The Libyan National Army, commanded by Marshal Khalifa Haftar, reported on the destruction of an alleged Turkish ship carrying weapons in the port of Tripoli.
In early February, the Libyan media reported that the Turkish Navy was bringing soldiers and heavy weapons to the Libyan capital Tripoli.
After the overthrow and murder of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, Libya actually ceased to function as a single state.
A dual power has been established in the country. In the east, a nationally elected parliament sits, while in the west, in the capital, Tripoli, the Government of National Accord, established with the support of the UN and the EU, rules.
The authorities in the eastern part of the country are cooperating with the Libyan National Army Haftar, which has been trying to take over the country’s capital since April last year.
Earlier, Radio Sputnik reported that the date of the beginning of the second round of negotiations on the Libyan settlement has become known.
