Opposition in Tbilisi holds rally against the appointment of a new prosecutor general

About a hundred representatives of opposition parties, their supporters and activists hold a protest outside the walls of the Georgian parliament against the appointment of Irakli Shotadze as the country’s prosecutor general.

“Today, the majority in the Georgian parliament must make another shameful decision. It always makes conflicting and criminal decisions for the country. Today they are meeting and in all likelihood will approve Shotadze as the prosecutor general. This is exactly what we are protesting, ”said Zaal Udumashvili, one of the leaders of the opposition party United National Movement.

Protesters have located about three official entrances to the parliament and boo the deputies who are going to a meeting. The protesters several times clashed with the police, which pushed them from the entrances. The detainees and victims have not yet been reported.
