More than a thousand refugees from abroad returned to Syria in 24 hours

More than 200 people returned from Lebanon to Syria in a day, and almost 800 more refugees came from Jordan, according to the newsletter of the reception, distribution and accommodation centre published on the Russian Ministry of Defence website.

“During the past day 1,023 refugees returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from the territories of foreign countries, including 229 from Lebanon through checkpoints “Jeidet Yabus”, “Tell Kalah” (69 women, 117 children), 794 from Jordan through the checkpoint “Nasib” (238 women, 405 children)”, –  the report says.

It is noted that no refugees were withdrawn to their places of permanent residence within 24 hours.
It is added that the engineering units of the Syrian Armed Forces have carried out demining tasks in Duma (Damascus province), Jasim and al-Harra (Deraa province). Within a day, 2.7 hectares of land have been cleared of mines and 31 explosive ordnance items have been discovered and destroyed.
The armed conflict in Syria has continued since 2011. At the end of 2017, it was announced that the SIG* terrorist group* in Syria and Iraq had been defeated. Militant clean-up operations are continuing in parts of the country. The political settlement, reconstruction of Syria, as well as the return of refugees are now in the foreground.
