Bundestag warned Germany against insulting the people of Russia

Bundestag deputies from the “Left” faction have prepared an appeal to the German federal government calling not to “deploy troops on the Russian border” as part of the exercise “Defender of Europe 2020” in order not to insult the residents on the eve of the 75th anniversary of victory over fascism.

Bundestag warned Germany against insulting the people of Russia

This was reported by RT.

The document stresses that citizens of Russia and former Soviet republics are the descendants of people who made the greatest sacrifice for the liberation of Europe from fascism during World War II.

“The fact that NATO plays so irresponsibly with the military stability of Europe precisely in the days approaching the 75th anniversary of the capture of Berlin by the Red Army and the victory over Hitler’s fascism is an insult to the Russian population and many people in other countries of the former Soviet Union, because it was their ancestors who made the greatest sacrifice and made the greatest effort to liberate Europe from fascism during World War II”, –  the channel quotes the words of the appeal.

Deputies from the Left Party emphasize that the German government must draw conclusions from history and take a step to achieve mutual understanding and reduce tensions, but instead Berlin “provides decisive support in moving troops to the east and itself sends troops for military exercises in the Baltics and Poland”.

In total, about 37 thousand soldiers from different North Atlantic alliance countries will take part in the exercise “Defender of Europe 2020”. Only the American military plans to use 13 thousand pieces of equipment.
