Afghan authorities agreed to leave the Americans “as allies.”
An agreement between the United States and the radical Taliban will not lead to the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan. Such a statement was made on Tuesday by a spokesman for the President of Afghanistan, Cedik Seddiki.
“The US agreement with the Taliban does not mean the withdrawal of American troops,” Seddiki said. “The Americans will remain on the Afghan soil as allies.”
An agreement between Washington and the Taliban is expected to be finalized next week. The agreement will call for a ceasefire between coalition forces led by the United States and the Taliban, which will become the basis for a peace deal in the near future.
