Eight people were killed in eastern Afghanistan

Eight civilians were killed in an airstrike on Friday night in Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan, Tolo News, an Afghan television channel, reported citing local authorities.

Provincial Governor Attaullah Khogyani noted that the attack occurred in the village of Karak in Surkh Rod county in the north of the province. At the same time, sources told the channel that local residents who were returning home after shopping at the market were killed.

The Afghan channel 1TV News indicates that the strike occurred when civilians were driving.
Tolo News further adds, citing a statement by the country’s defense ministry, that the Afghan military has launched five airstrikes over the past 24 hours, including one in the province of Sherzad. As a result of this blow, they managed to eliminate six Taliban, four more militants were injured.
