More than 250 people returned from Lebanon to Syria in a day, and almost 600 more refugees came from Jordan, according to the newsletter of the reception, distribution and accommodation centre published on the Russian Ministry of Defence website.
“In the past 24 hours, 844 refugees returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from foreign countries, including 251 from Lebanon through the checkpoints “Jeidet Yabus”, “Tell Kalah” (women – 75, children – 128), from Jordan through the checkpoint “Nasib” – 593 people (women – 178, children – 302)”, – the text of the bulletin says.
It is noted that 1,383 refugees returned to their places of permanent residence within 24 hours.
It is added that the engineering units of the Syrian Armed Forces carried out demining tasks in the towns of Duma (Damascus province), Jasim and al-Harra (Deraa province). In one day, 2.2 hectares of land were cleared of mines and 33 explosive ordnance items were found and destroyed.
The armed conflict in Syria has continued since 2011. At the end of 2017, it was announced that the SG* terrorist group* in Syria and Iraq had been defeated. Militant clean-up operations continue in parts of the country. The political settlement, reconstruction of Syria, as well as the return of refugees are now in the foreground.
