In Syria, more than 150 people were killed in January shelling

“The activation of the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and its allied militias has actually undermined Russian and Syrian efforts to reduce tension in the area. More than 150 civilians died as a result of the militants’ shelling in January alone”, –  the release says.

According to Mikhail Mizintsev, head of the National Defense Control Center of Russia, and Hussein Mahluf, minister of municipal administration and environment of Syria, militants blocked roads to three checkpoints in Aleppo, Idlib and Hama provinces to block the exit of civilians through humanitarian corridors organized by Russia and Syria.

“In response to the constant provocations of terrorists, Syrian army units were forced to take action to secure Government-held territory”, –  it adds.

It is stressed that during the terrorists’ retreat, the ATS army received ammunition, equipment and weapons, including those of Western manufacture, left by the guerrillas, which “indicates continued support for the guerrillas from abroad”.
