Islamabad claims that about 10 people were injured in the shooting.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry has protested to India over the violation of the ceasefire agreement on the line of control in Kashmir. This was stated in a statement issued by the agency on Monday.
“Pakistani Foreign Minister Zahid Hafiz Chowdry summoned the Chargé d’affaires ad interim of the Embassy of India in Islamabad and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violation by Indian forces along the line of control”, – the communiqué said.
“About 10 people were injured by the shooting”, – the agency said.
“Such reckless actions clearly violate the 2003 ceasefire agreement and completely disregard human rights and threaten regional peace and security”, – the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said. – “The Indian side must respect the ceasefire agreement”.
The territory of the Principality of Kashmir has been in dispute between India and Pakistan since 1947, when British India, having gained independence, divided into two states on religious grounds. At present, the region has no state border: its territory is divided by a line of control. In the Indian part there are active groups advocating secession from the country.
