According to Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, the delegation will be headed by representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The Russian delegation will travel to Turkey to negotiate the situation in the de-escalation zone in Idlib province. This was announced on Friday by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on NTV channel.
“Tomorrow a delegation from Russia will come to Turkey, headed by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We will hold negotiations, and if there is such a need, they may be followed by negotiations at the level of our countries’ leaders”, – he said.
Meanwhile, Turkish President spokesman Ibrahim Kalyn said Thursday that “a military delegation from Russia should come to Turkey to discuss Syria”.
Cavusoglu also claimed that “the regime’s [Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s] aggression continues in Idlib”. “Turkey is ready to do everything necessary to stop the humanitarian catastrophe”, – he added.
As noted earlier in the Russian Foreign Ministry, in recent weeks there has been an escalation of the situation in Idlib de-escalation zone. Russian and Turkish military have made another attempt to introduce a regime of silence, but terrorists have only intensified their attacks. As a result, military specialists from Russia and Turkey have been killed. The Syrian army responded to the extremists by taking the town of Saraqib near Idlib on February 5.
