The United States intends to begin negotiations with Russia on strategic arms control. This was confirmed by the US Permanent Representative to NATO Kay Bailey Hutchison.
“I know that our administration is preparing to begin negotiations with Russia and is making efforts to engage China in the agreement on a new level of arms control”, – she said, speaking at the Heritage Foundation in Washington.
Hutchison noted that Washington is concerned about China’s increasing nuclear capacity to improve its capabilities, as well as China’s expanding global presence as a result of the One Belt, One Path program.
About the readiness of the United States for negotiations with the Russian side has lately told the adviser to the American President for national security, Robert O’Brien.
Beijing previously stated that it would not join the possible agreement due to the fact that the level of strategic nuclear weapons is inferior to the United States and Russia.
