Iranian Armed Forces to reveal new details of an attack on a base with the U.S. military in Iraq

The IRGC noted, that “the Americans in the attack on Ain al-Assad received a small slap in the face of the Iranians in the field of electronic confrontation”.

The Iranian military will soon announce new details of the January 8 rocket attack on Iraqi base Ain al-Assad, where U.S. troops were present. General Amir Ali Hajizade, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, the elite units of Iran’s Armed Forces), said on Friday.

“Much remains to be said. We want to hold a meeting at which we will tell the people [of our country] more about this attack”, –  ISNA quoted him as saying.

Hajizade added that “during the attack on Ain al-Assad, the Americans received a small slap on the wrist from the Iranians in the field of electronic warfare”. He did not give any details.

The situation in the Middle East has sharply deteriorated after the US missile strike on the night of January 3 near Baghdad airport, which killed the commander of the Al-Quds special unit of the IRGC, General Kasem Suleimani. In response, Iran launched a missile strike on the night of January 8 at two sites in Iraq that were used by the U.S. military: Ain al-Assad base and Erbil airport.
