Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has confirmed the next meeting of the Russian and NATO military leaders will be held in Baku.
Earlier it was reported that the talks of Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov and Commander-in-Chief of the United Armed Forces (UAE) of NATO in Europe Todd Walters are planned in Baku, presumably on 6-7 February.
“I am very glad that meetings of NATO and Russian military leadership are held in Baku, it is already a tradition. We are grateful to NATO and Russia for choosing Azerbaijan as a venue for the meeting. I think it is a very right decision”, – Aliyev said at the meeting with Walters, the president’s press service quotes him.
The press service of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan informed that on Thursday First Deputy Defense Minister of Azerbaijan – Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan Najmeddin Sadykov met with NATO delegation headed by Walters who was on a visit to Baku.
“The guest expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani leadership for the warm welcome and hospitality, as well as for assistance in holding another meeting with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Baku,” the military department said.
