Poland: Monument of gratitude to the Red Army will be demolished

The monument in the town of Leszno of the Greater Poland Voivodeship will cease to exist until the end of the week. In its place they want to install a stone dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the return of the city of Leszno to the borders of the Republic of Poland.

All parts of the monument will be placed in a warehouse. At the site of the demolished monument, the mayor of Leszno proposed to put a stone dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the return of the city of Leszno to the borders of the Republic of Poland. The final decision must now be made by city deputies.

The Soviet monument was erected immediately after the end of World War II. It has two tablets with inscriptions in Polish and Russian: “Eternal glory to the Heroes who died in the struggle for freedom and independence of the Soviet Union and Poland.”
