Poland: Hundreds of Soviet monuments destroyed with the approval of the authorities

Over the past twenty years, hundreds of Soviet monuments have been destroyed in Poland. This was told by the Ambassador of Russia to the country Sergey Andreev.

“According to our assessment, in Poland, over 100 monuments to Soviet soldiers-liberators remain outside the territory of military burial grounds (in 1997 there were 561 of them),” he said.

At the same time, the country actively supports the policy of destroying the Soviet past. Polish President Andrzej Duda in 2017 signed a law that, in essence, legalized the destruction of monuments as “propaganda of communism”. The document involves the demolition of monuments. About 230 monuments in honor of the Red Army fall under it.
