Tests of the Russian treatment for coronavirus have begun in China

China will test a Russian direct-acting antiviral drug Triazavirin to fight the 2019-nCov coronavirus, Deputy Health Minister Sergei Kraeva told reporters.

Russian doctors have not yet been able to directly isolate the virus strain in infected patients in Russia to speed up the creation of the vaccine, Krayeva added.

Epidemic of a new type of coronavirus.

In late December, Chinese authorities reported an outbreak of pneumonia of unknown origin in the densely populated city of Wuhan, Hubei Province. The cause of the disease was a new type of coronavirus – 2019-nCoV.

According to the latest data, the number of cases worldwide has exceeded 20.6 thousand patients, 427 people died. The most difficult situation is in China, but the virus has also penetrated into other countries, including Russia. The World Health Organization recognized the 2019-nCoV outbreak as an emergency situation of international importance.

The disease is transmitted by airborne droplets, as well as through the touch of dirty hands to the eyes. Among the main symptoms are a dry cough, difficulty breathing up to respiratory failure, high body temperature, weakness. However, in some cases, the disease goes without pneumonia, only accompanied by a rare dry cough and low fever, but even with mild symptoms of the patient can infect others.

Last week, the Russian government decided to close some sections of the border with China in the Far East, limit border crossing with Mongolia, cancel working visas for Chinese citizens, evacuate Russians in Hubei Province, and suspend all regular Russian airlines’ flights to China, except Aeroflot’s flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong. Since February 3, Russian Railways has stopped railway communication with China.
