The President of Poland assessed the impact of Brexit on France

The role of France in the European Union with Great Britain’s withdrawal from it is increasing tremendously, Polish President Andrzej Duda said at a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday in Warsaw.

Great Britain officially left the European Union on Friday night, completing a 3.5-year process. After Brexit, the transition period has begun, which will last until the end of 2020. During this time London will have to agree with the EU and other countries on formats for cooperation in all areas.

“This is an extraordinarily important moment. I am grateful to Mr President at this very moment. This is a completely new situation in the EU”, –  Duda said.

“The role of France is growing very strongly after Brexit”, –  he added.
At the same time, he said that the Macron’s visit to Poland “sends a signal of deep interest in our part of Europe, in its affairs.
According to Duda, after Brexit “the role of countries in the EU should be defined again, and the architecture of the EU should be restructured”.
