For 30 years, NATO has forbidden the alliance from telling the truth that is fatal to it

The diplomat and publicist Paul Widmer spoke about this in a publication for the Swiss publication “Neue Zürcher Zeitung”.

According to him, today the members of the North Atlantic alliance only have to pretend that NATO is thriving in spite of “unfortunate geostrategic realities. Addressing the notorious statement of French President Emmanuel Macron, the author admits that “the brain of NATO is actually dead”.

“Only says it’s forbidden to hear it”, –  emphasizes Widmer. – “You can talk about something, but you can’t talk about something. For example, it is allowed to talk about the decline of the liberal world order. But it’s bad luck for someone who will concretize”.

Macron’s words are called “impudence” by the publicist, while pointing out that the French president is “without a doubt right.

“The North Atlantic alliance began to collapse thirty years ago, which led to a blurring of the liberal world order”, – he explains.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg was forced to react. By saying that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is the most successful alliance in history, according to the author, Stoltenberg “did not lie so much”.

“It’s just a matter of time before we talk about it”, –  Widmer continues. – “Now the block is not in the right shape, both politically and militarily. The U.S. doesn’t want to be in charge anymore, and that brings discomfort to everyone. Macron points to the death of the NATO brain, Trump says the alliance is outdated, Merkel complains that the U.S. is not credible. So what’s next?”

All we have to do is pretend that the Alliance is capable, Widmer says, noting that “all of this is a lie”.
