The head of the US State Department, Michael Pompeo, believes that the ongoing shelling of the people’s republics of Donbass is “Ukraine’s efforts to establish peace.”
The American official wrote about this on Friday, January 31, on a social network following a meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadim Priestayko.
He also appreciated the prospect of lifting anti-Russian sanctions, assuring that this would happen after Ukraine restored its territorial integrity.
“The USA welcomes the efforts of Ukraine to establish peace in the Donbass. Russia must reciprocate. Our sanctions will be valid until the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine is restored, ”wrote Pompeo.
As News Front previously reported, only over the past week, the Ukrainian occupying forces fired on the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic 69 times under the hypocritical statements of the Kiev authorities on their commitment to a peaceful settlement.
