Greek Parliament approves new US military base agreement

The Greek parliament has ratified an agreement on defense cooperation with the United States, under which the Americans will be able to use almost all military facilities in Greece, as well as receive new military bases, reports Etnos.

175 deputies voted in favor, 33 against, another 80 abstained.

The agreement provides for the expansion of the American Sud Bay base in Crete. Also, the US military will provide the infrastructure of the Stefanovikio, Larisa and Alexandroupolis bases. In addition, the Americans will be able to use any military facility in Greece.

It is noted that the validity period of the new agreement has not yet been established.
