Consulting agency Edelman presented its current “Trust Barometer” and revealed growing discomfort among Germans.

In figures: more than half of those surveyed questioned capitalism (55%) and the current system (61%). In addition, almost three-quarters (73 percent) of people in Germany are afraid of losing their jobs. Approximately one in four (23 percent) expects economic performance to improve over the next five years.

According to the survey, institutions in Germany are viewed with particular scepticism. The agency asked whether ethical companies, the government, the media and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are competent.

The sober conclusion was that no institution was perceived as competent and ethical.
