Serbia commemorates Holocaust victims

A funeral ceremony in memory of the victims of the Holocaust took place in Belgrade on the site of the former Nazi concentration camp “Zemun” – in the memorial center “Staro-Saimiste”.

The event was led by the Serbian Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Affairs Zoran Djordjevic.

“You cannot destroy the identity of another person or people, thereby you embed in your own identity that which is unworthy of either a person or a people. More than ever, we need peace, stability and unity, ”TASS quotes him.

Also, representatives of foreign embassies and members of public organizations attended the ceremony.

Earlier, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas called on European countries to consolidate the fight against anti-Semitism and develop a common plan of action, education and criminalization of Holocaust denial.

Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that Nazi crimes have no statute of limitations, and the Holocaust is one of the darkest pages of world history.
