The ship Ocean Viking, which rescues migrants in the Mediterranean Sea, took 184 migrants aboard, according to the humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
“Tonight Ocean Viking rescued 184 people – men, women and children – in two rubber boats in distress. 102 people were rescued 80 nautical miles off the Libyan coast and another 82 in the Maltese rescue zone”, – MSF said on Twitter.
The organization also noted that after five night rescue operations that could be carried out in less than 72 hours, the total number of survivors on board is 407.
In late July, “Médecins sans Frontières”, together with SOS Mediterranee, resumed search and rescue operations to help migrants in the Mediterranean Sea “against the background of inaction by the EU countries”. The aid ship Ocean Viking is sailing under the flag of Norway.
