“On January 27, 1945, the brave soldiers of the Red Army entered the barbed wire of the territory of the concentration camp. They did not know at that moment that they were walking along the ashes of a huge mass grave, where more than a million people died, ”Macron said, TASS reports. “Our duty is to remember the past, to remember all the victims of the Holocaust in order to build the present. It is necessary to constantly tell new generations about this tragedy, ”the French president added, emphasizing the danger of the return of anti-Semitism in Europe.
“Returning anti-Semitism is not a problem for the Jews, it is a problem for all of us,” said Macron.
The French leader noted that “you can’t put up with racism, the denial of the crimes of the Nazis, an encroachment on the historical heritage and ideals.” “We must not give in,” said Macron.
