Bolton wrote about it in his unpublished book.
Former national security adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump John Bolton confirmed the U.S. leader’s intention to delay military assistance to Ukraine. This was stated in Bolton’s unpublished book, The New York Times reported.
“President Trump told his national security advisor in August that he intended to further freeze $391m of military aid to Ukraine until official Kiev helped with an investigation against democrats, including Biden,” the report said.
It also noted that Bolton’s book contains information about the issues on which he can testify in the Senate if he is called for questioning.
Just to remind you, before the phone conversation with Zelenskyy, Trump detained financial support for Ukraine and during the conversation he mentioned several times the need to continue investigating the Ukrainian gas company Вuгіѕmа. The company employed the son of Joe Biden, Trump’s rival in the upcoming US presidential election.
Because of the scandal surrounding the conversation between the leaders of Ukraine and the USA, on 24 September, Congress launched the Trump impeachment procedure. As Ukrainian News earlier reported, on 19 December, the US House of Representatives voted for Trump’s impeachment. It takes two thirds of senators’ votes to remove the president from office.
January 21, the U.S. Senate rejected the Democrats’ demands for new evidence and witnesses in the impeachment of President Donald Trump. Senators cast 53 votes in favour and 47 against to block three proposals by Senate leader Chuck Schumer. They concerned the involvement of witnesses and documents from the White House, the State Department and the Directorate for Budget Management, which are related to the relations between Trump and the Ukrainian leadership, in the trial.
