An improvised explosive device went off in a hospital in Hong Kong

An improvised explosive device exploded in the toilet of a Hong Kong hospital on Monday night. No one was injured in the incident, police are looking for those involved, the South China Morning Post reported.


The explosion occurred in the Caritas Medical Centre around 2.30 local time (Sunday 22.30 Moscow time), about 20 patients were evacuated, but no one was injured.
“Emergency department staff heard loud claps in the toilet and then found that there was an explosion in one of the booths”, –  said the hospital representative.
He added that the hospital immediately alerted law enforcement officials to the incident and said it was ready to co-operate with police in the investigation.
“We condemn these deliberate actions, which have damaged the medical center and put patients at risk”, –  the spokesman added.
Experts who arrived were able to determine that an improvised explosive device had exploded in the hospital and fragments of glass bottles, batteries and electrical circuits were found.
To date, the hospital has returned to normal operation.
